Summer Olympics in Tokyo

The 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo will take place in summer 2021. More than 10,000 athletes from 140 countries will compete for the coveted medals in 339 competitions. dpa offers a package with a live centre and various data graphics (widgets), which are continuously updated every day of competition.

Schedule:

• The opening ceremony will take place on July 23, the closing ceremony on August 8. But already on 21 and 22 July, the first preliminary round matches in football and softball will be played.
• At the time of the Olympic Games, time in Japan is seven hours ahead of time in Germany, so coverage usually starts at midnight and ends around 3 pm.
• There will be continuous coverage of the various sports on each day of competition, and the coverage will be updated continuously during the time of coverage.
